Why travel with Osaviva?

Guides like Betsy.

Walk Oaxaca's markets with Betsy and every bite comes with a story. That's the kind of local expert we work with across Mexico.

Mexico's most interesting corners.

Oaxaca, Mexico City, Guanajuato, the haciendas and cenotes of the Yucatán. Mexico runs far deeper than its beach resorts, and so does our list.

A plan B for seaweed season.

When sargassum hits the Riviera Maya, we know where to go: Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres, or Isla Holbox.

Where to stay

Hotel Esencia

Xpu-Há

Once the private retreat of an Italian duchess, Hotel Esencia occupies a 50-acre estate along one of the Riviera Maya’s quieter beaches. Rooms, suites, and villas are tucked between jungle and Caribbean, with the original whitewashed house still at the heart of the property.

Mexico

Maroma Belmond

Maroma, A Belmond Hotel

Riviera Maya

Hidden between tropical forest and a broad Caribbean beach, Maroma returned after an extensive redesign that kept its low-rise, handcrafted character intact. Rooms and suites incorporate Mexican textiles, ceramics, and art, while the resort remains deliberately smaller than many of its Riviera Maya neighbors.

Mexico

Rosewood Mayakoba Mexico

Rosewood Mayakoba

Mayakoba

Mangrove lagoons weave through Rosewood Mayakoba, where suites and villas are reached by paths and electric boats before opening toward the Caribbean. Private pools, generous residential layouts, and extensive family facilities make it one of the Riviera Maya’s most versatile luxury resorts.

Mexico

Chable Maroma

Chablé Maroma

Riviera Maya

Jungle surrounds the private pool villas at Chablé Maroma before giving way to a quiet Caribbean beach. The property brings the wellness focus of the Chablé brand to the coast, with contemporary architecture tucked carefully among palms and native vegetation.

Mexico

Be Tulum

Be Tulum

Tulum

Jungle paths connect suites, pools, and the beach at Be Tulum, one of the properties that helped define Tulum’s small-scale luxury hotel scene. Natural materials and private outdoor spaces keep the architecture closely tied to its tropical setting.

Mexico

Nomade Tulum

Nômade Tulum

Tulum

Nômade sits between jungle and Caribbean along Tulum’s beach road, with rooms, tents, and suites distributed beneath palms and tropical vegetation. Wellness, communal spaces, and a distinctly bohemian approach place it firmly within Tulum’s original retreat culture.

More FAQ
When is the best time to go?

November to April is dry and warm across most of the country. Hurricane season runs June to November on both coasts.

What about sargassum?

Seaweed reaches the Riviera Maya roughly from April or May through September. Isla Mujeres' Playa Norte and Isla Holbox are usually less affected, and the Pacific coast isn't affected.

Is Mexico safe to visit?

It depends on the state, so check your government's latest advisory for each place you'll visit. Yucatán, Oaxaca City and Mexico City's main neighborhoods are popular and well traveled.

How do we combine regions?

Domestic flights are quick and affordable. Mexico City to Oaxaca is about an hour, and to the Yucatán about two.

Will the altitude affect us?

Mexico City sits at about 2,240 m. Most people feel only mild effects, but take the first day easy.

Can we drink the tap water?

Stick to bottled or filtered water. Good hotels provide it.
