Chile Torres del Paine

Desert stillness, Patagonian wilderness

Chile travel

Standout lodges, private guides, and routes through wine country, Atacama, and Patagonia without wasting days in transit.

Why we love Chile

Desert skies, wine valleys & granite towers

Long, skinny, and impossibly diverse, Chile stretches more than 4,000 kilometers from top to bottom, and it packs nearly every landscape on Earth into that ribbon of land. In the north, the Atacama Desert offers salt flats, steaming geysers, and some of the clearest night skies you'll ever see. To the south, you'll find glacier-carved fjords, emerald lakes, and the granite towers of Torres del Paine. Cheers to that.

Signature experiences

Moon Valley Valle de la Luna Chile Atacama

Desert landscapes

Walk through the Atacama Desert

Explore Valle de la Luna, salt flats, high-altitude lagoons, and geothermal fields surrounded by volcanoes. Early starts bring clearer skies and fewer visitors, while late afternoon light deepens the desert’s reds, ochres, and pale mineral tones.

Llama standing on a dirt road by a turquoise lake with mountains in the background. Torres del Paine, Chile.

Patagonian wilderness

Explore beneath the granite towers

Follow private guides through open steppe, lenga forest, and valleys below the Paine massif. Days can include gentle scenic walks, longer hikes, horseback riding, glacier cruises, and drives timed around wildlife and changing weather.

Puerto Varas with Sacred Heart Church and Osorno Volcano, Chile

Lakes and volcanoes

Hike through southern Chile

Base yourself near Lake Llanquihue or Villarrica for trails through native forest, kayaking, rafting, and visits to natural hot springs. Snow-covered volcanoes rise beyond the lakes, and small towns bring German-Chilean traditions, bakeries, and local markets into the trip.

Cityscape of historical city of Valparaiso, Chile.

Art and architecture

Walk Valparaíso’s painted hills

Ride the city’s historic funiculars and explore steep lanes lined with murals, galleries, and brightly painted houses. A private guide can connect the port’s architecture and maritime history with the artists and communities working here today.

Valle Central Santiago district

Wine and food

Spend a day in Chilean wine country

Visit smaller estates for private tastings, vineyard walks, and long lunches overlooking the vines. Casablanca is known for cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, while warmer Colchagua produces some of Chile’s best Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère.

Castro, Chiloe, Chile

Island culture

Explore the villages and coast of Chiloé

Travel between wooden churches, fishing communities, working farms, and the colorful palafitos of Castro. Boat trips, forest walks, and meals built around shellfish, potatoes, and traditional curanto reveal an island culture distinct from mainland Chile.
