Your route

Day by day

The wildest Caribbean

Dominica

Day 1: Welcome to Dominica

Arrive in Dominica and follow the coastal road north, where rainforest-covered hills rise from the sea. Check into your sea-view hotel and spend the afternoon swimming, exploring the shoreline, or taking out a kayak or paddleboard close to shore. After dark, frogs and insects provide your first evening’s soundtrack.

Day 2: An offshore adventure with ocean giants

Head offshore with expert local guides for the planned sperm-whale excursion. Watch for these extraordinary animals in the deep blue waters surrounding Dominica. Any in-water encounter depends on the required authorization, conditions, and conservation protocols. Return to shore with the afternoon free to relax by the sea.

Day 3: Into the jungle canyon

Follow your guides into Dominica’s rainforest for a canyoning adventure. Move through narrow gorges, slide over smooth rock, and swim clear pools beneath dripping vines and ferns. Return to the coast in the afternoon with time to relax after your river adventure.

Day 4: Volcanic trails & dinner by candlelight

Journey into Dominica’s volcanic highlands toward the Boiling Lake corridor, walking forest trails through mist and steaming ground. After the hike, enjoy natural hot springs and warm river pools before returning to your retreat. Tonight, dine privately by candlelight as the forest comes alive after dark.

Reef water, island culture & a final sail

Coast & Kalinago Territory

Day 5: Reefs, green cliffs & Caribbean waters

Head out by boat to snorkel a reef chosen around the day’s conditions. Explore coral and tropical fish beneath the surface, then continue along a shoreline of river mouths and steep green cliffs. Spend the afternoon swimming, kayaking, or paddleboarding near your hotel.

Day 6: Kalinago hosts & Dominican flavors

Visit the Kalinago Territory to learn from local hosts about their craft, culture, and coastal home. Later, kayak a freshwater lake surrounded by forest, watching for birds along the shore. This evening, join a local kitchen to prepare a Dominican meal with fresh ingredients and traditional recipes.

Day 7: A sunset sail & a final private dinner

Spend the morning at leisure before taking to the water for a sunset sail along the coast. Watch the island’s green hills darken against the evening sky, then return for a final private dinner. A beautiful close to your Nature Island adventure.

Day 8: Farewell to the Nature Island

Bid farewell to rainforest rivers, volcanic trails, and deep blue Caribbean waters as you depart Dominica for your onward travels.

Where to stay

Secret Bay Dominica

Secret Bay

Secret Bay spreads 27 private villas through rainforest and clifftop gardens near Portsmouth, with a plunge pool at every villa. One- to three-and-a-half-bedroom layouts, full kitchens, villa hosts, three secluded beaches, and direct access to Dominica’s north make it a strong base for couples and families.

Coulibri Ridge

Coulibri Ridge

A fully off-grid property powered by 300-plus solar panels and wind turbines, with its own rainwater harvesting and filtration, set on a 200-acre clifftop ridge with two infinity pools looking out toward Martinique. It's genuinely remote, roughly a 2-hour transfer from the main airport, with only 14 suites and two restaurants, so guests should expect a rustic-luxury balance built around off-grid self-sufficiency rather than big-resort infrastructure or dining variety.

Jungle Bay Dominica

Jungle Bay Dominica

Rainforest hillside cottages built partly on stilts above Soufrière, with structured wellness and yoga programming and Dominica's highest tier of Nature Island Standards of Excellence sustainability certification. No room here is fully oceanfront, dining is limited to a single on-site restaurant, and at roughly 75 to 80 minutes from the airport, it's a moderate, if not extreme, drive.
