Your route

Day by day

Among pines and pyramids

Mountain Pine Ridge

Day 1: Arrival in the pines

Welcome to Belize! Meet your private driver and head west along limestone roads to the heart of the Maya jungle in inland Belize. Check into your deliciously luxurious riverfront cabana and spend the afternoon lounging on the patio, with pine-scented air and a pristine river view. Tonight, dine on wood-fired pizza and fine wine.

Day 2: Canoe into the Maya underworld

Glide through the shadowy, sacred corridors of Barton Creek Cave on a canoe tour. Paddle beneath soaring stalactites, past ancient Maya pottery and burial sites on an atmospheric adventure into Belize’s ancient past. Wind down back at the lodge.

Day 3: Waterfalls on horseback & a gourmet picnic

Today, ride along jungle trails on horseback to one of the most spectacular waterfalls in all of Belize: the rushing Big Rock Falls. As you ride, admire the abundant orchids adorning granite rock outcroppings and watch for exotic animals hidden in the forest canopy. When you arrive to the falls, enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch, then dive into the creek for a refreshing chance to beat the jungle heat.

Day 4: From ancient temples to turquoise seas

After breakfast, drive to Xunantunich, crossing the Mopan River on a hand-operated ferry to reach this ancient Maya ceremonial center. Discover temples and plazas on foot, climb to the top of El Castillo for breathtaking 360-degree views, and learn the history of this remarkable place. Then fly to Ambergris Caye and check into your beachfront retreat. Spend the afternoon with your toes in the sand and the Caribbean stretching out before you.

Day 5: Marvel at the Blue Hole from the skies

Take to the skies for awe-inspiring views of the Great Blue Hole, a deep-blue circle framed by coral reef and crystalline turquoise seas. Watch the colors shift beneath you as you fly above Belize’s offshore atolls, then return to your beachfront retreat for an afternoon of sun, sand and sea.

Day 6: Snorkel the undersea splendors at Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley

Start your day bright and early aboard your private boat to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. Snorkel through crystalline turquoise waters and explore the undersea landscape, home to a diverse array of creatures, including turtles, morays, stingrays, nurse sharks, and a wide variety of brightly colored tropical fish. Return to your beachfront retreat for a relaxing evening by the sea.

Day 7: A sunset sail & candlelit farewell

Take one last day to settle deeply into a laid-back island vibe. Today is yours to spend how you wish: wander white sand beaches, kayak along the shore, or take one last swim in the calm Caribbean Sea. This afternoon, set sail along the coast with cocktails and canapés as you revel in one last sweet Caribbean sunset. Dinner tonight will be unforgettable: dine on the dock with a torch-lit, multi-course tasting menu and toast to a perfect Belizean holiday while you start making plans to return.

Day 8: Bid farewell to turquoise seas

Spend your final morning lounging by the pool or strolling Ambergris Caye’s white sands. Bid farewell to turquoise waters and powdery sands, with a short flight to Belize City, where you will depart on your international flight home.

Where to stay

Gaia Riverlodge, Mountain Pine Ridge, Belize

Gaia Riverlodge

Gaia Riverlodge sits above the Five Sisters waterfalls in Belize's Mountain Pine Ridge, where forest surrounds a small collection of hillside rooms and villas. Stone paths wind down to the river, inviting afternoons spent swimming beneath the falls or relaxing beside the water. Nearby caves, rivers, and Maya sites make it easy to explore beyond the lodge.

Blancaneaux Lodge, Mountain Pine Ridge, Belize

Blancaneaux Lodge

Hidden deep within the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, about an hour from San Ignacio, Blancaneaux Lodge is Francis Ford Coppola's 20-room retreat beside the Privassion River. Hidden Valley Lodge, Mountain Pine Ridge, Belize

Hidden Valley Lodge

Hidden Valley Wilderness Lodge lies within a 7,200-acre private reserve in the Mountain Pine Ridge, where pine forest gradually gives way to broadleaf jungle, waterfalls, and rivers. Twenty-six cottages and villas are spread across the landscape, with more than 90 kilometres of private trails leading to swimming holes, lookouts, and hidden cascades.

Matachica Resort, Ambergris Caye, Belize

Matachica Resort

North of San Pedro, Matachica stretches along a quiet section of Ambergris Caye where colorful casitas sit between tropical gardens and the Caribbean. The adults-only resort feels relaxed rather than formal, with the Belize Barrier Reef just offshore and golf carts replacing cars. It's an easy place to slow down without feeling isolated from the island.

Victoria House, Ambergris Caye, Belize

Victoria House

Just south of San Pedro, Victoria House has welcomed guests to Ambergris Caye for more than 40 years. Colonial-style buildings, palm-lined gardens, and a broad stretch of beachfront create a calm, understated atmosphere that has changed little over the years. The Barrier Reef, town of San Pedro, and island's best dive operators are all close at hand.

Alaia, Ambergris Caye, Belize

Alaia Belize

Alaia brings a contemporary style to Ambergris Caye, set just outside of San Pedro, with spacious rooms, suites, and beachfront villas overlooking the Caribbean. Several pools, a rooftop lounge, and a wide choice of restaurants create one of the island's most complete resort experiences. Spend your days on the reef before returning to sunset views over the water.

Cayo Espanto, Belize private island

Cayo Espanto

Reached by a short boat ride from San Pedro, Cayo Espanto is an island built entirely around privacy. With only seven villas, every stay is tailored around the individual guest rather than a fixed resort schedule. Each villa includes its own dock or plunge pool, along with a private butler and meals prepared to your preferences throughout the day.
