The itinerary

Day by day

Ancient echoes in the pines
Mountain Pine Ridge
Day 1
Into the pines & after-dark adventure

Touch down in Belize City and head by private transfer to your lodge in the cool pine forests of Mountain Pine Ridge. Check into your spacious family suite, then kick things off with a guided night hike. Watch for owls and kinkajous as your naturalist brings the nocturnal forest to life. It's a magical start to your family escape.

Day 2
Forest trails & Maya flavors

Wander into the hills on a guided hike through pines and broadleaf forest, following trails to waterfalls and lookout points with wide, rugged views. Later, roll up your sleeves for a delicious introduction to traditional techniques and local flavors with a hands-on Maya cooking class back at the lodge.

Day 3
Journey into the Maya underworld

Embark on a journey to Xibalba (pronounced shi-bal-ba), the Maya underworld. Trek through rainforest to the Cave of the Stone Sepulcher, held sacred to the Maya who used the cave to conduct ceremonies and ritual sacrifices to the gods of the underworld. Travel into the past in this living museum, where skeletal remains and Maya artifacts still rest as they were originally placed thousands of years ago.

Day 4
From forests to sea

Time to swap pines for palms. Take a private transfer to your beachfront retreat in the colorful village of Hopkins. Check into your beachy family cabana, then stroll the sand, or dive into the pool.

Day 5
Reef magic & marine encounters

Snorkel the nearby Belize Barrier Reef on a guided family-friendly tour, watching for parrotfish, rays, and coral gardens offshore from Hopkins. Spend the afternoon splashing in the sea or soaking up sun by the pool.

Day 6
Drums & culture by the sea

Feel the rhythm during a Garifuna drumming session in Hopkins Village, an energetic, hands-on cultural experience the kids will love. Then enjoy free time to beachcomb, kayak, or simply relax at your beachfront retreat.

Day 8
Snorkel with rays & nurse sharks

Head out on a snorkeling tour to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, where you’ll swim with friendly nurse sharks and graceful rays in clear, shallow waters—safe and thrilling for all ages. Spend the afternoon unwinding at the pool or beach.

Day 9
Chill, paddle & play

Ease into island time with a free day. Take out complimentary kayaks or paddleboards for a mellow glide along the coast, or simply lounge by the beach or pool. A well-earned day of island leisure.
